    Description

Shaw & Copestake "SylvaC" Moonlight Ware Desert Scene Vase ca. 1925-1936 (#8-7)
    Description
This estate piece is a beautifully hand painted porcelain vase by Shaw & Copestake of England. The colors are black and grey with a rarely found Arabian/Persian desert scene of an oasis fortress with three camels and riders - all with gilded highlights. The camel riders and cargo have colored enameled highlights which make the piece very attractive. There are also silhouettes of hand painted palm trees and a mountain and perhaps other structures in the background.
Although not marked as such, this vase appears to be in the "Moonlight Ware" series. It has the mold number “626” impressed as well as “Made In England”. The numbers and letter “2226  N” are written in black. Although not marked, this shape has been recorded as belonging to Shaw & Copestake (SylvaC).
Shaw & Copestake was founded in 1894 by William Shaw and William Copestake and given the company name of Shaw & Copestake. It traded under the name of "SylvaC" and most pieces were stamped "SylvaC" after 1937. This is most likely one of their pieces made in the Art Deco era between the years 1925 – 1936.
    Dimension/size
    – This vase stands approximately 7 ¾" tall and is about 3 ¾” at its widest. It weighs just under 11 oz.
    Condition
    – This vase is in good condition with no chips or cracks that we could find. There is some crazing. There is also noticeable gilt loss on the upper rim and almost no loss on the lower rim. Overall, an excellent and hard to find piece. Please see photos.

    About Us
The Amazing Grace on eBay store was opened to assist us in selling the rather extensive estate of a friend's mother that we have "inherited". Sally collected a variety of things for many years and 95% of the over 1,200 treasures have been in storage for the last 20 years or more. From depression glass to Asian porcelain and carvings to Native American turquiose & silver jewelry, Sally was a very accomplished collector and even had numerous reference books that accompanied her collections.
We fully understand that in order to sell this vast estate we must offer excellent customer service and fair prices in order to earn repeat customers. Our goal is to make sure each and every customer has a positive buying experience and is completely satisfied. While not experts by any means, we will do our best to fully and accurately describe our offerings. We expend a great deal of effort in researching each piece to insure an accurate description and your satisfaction is our highest priority.
