Description
This listing is for some rare vintage crepe paper rope made by Dennison in the 1930s. During the Great Depression, regular folks couldn't afford much of anything. Lots of companies struggled because people with no money meant no sales. Some, like Dennison, filled the gap with out of the box ideas - such as Dennison's paper rope. Its great for weaving, and for making all kinds of really cute, crafty Art Deco items. It was used in place of yard for craft items. The book "Weaving with Paper Rope" was the instruction manual for using the paper rope. It came in three sizes, and this is the smallest - the 1/16". I have lots of another size in other listings, if you are interested. Its quite rare, and really cool. All five of the skeins are unused, with their original labels, although the labels are starting to wear and chips. I don't know how long the rope is in each skein, as it doesn't say, and I didn't want to take it apart to measure it. This color is all the same, a lovely cocoa brown. The booklet comes to you free, on CD, along with the rope. I have two skeins of an off-white in this size, that are in another listing.Dennison was the leader in paper crafts and party goods for all of the 20th century. At the end of the century, they sold to Avery, who discontinued all the craft items, keeping only the business items. Its a shame, because their items were of the highest quality, and there is still a big market for them today - from collectors AND crafters.
